Imagine, twelve years ago when Price, Brutus Clay, Luke Fallon and I were dreaming on an industry initiative to open up our farms for tourism. Two years earlier, The Jockey Club requested McKinsey & Co. complete a study of our industry, and they concluded we were losing our fan base and if something was not done, the Thoroughbred industry would die on the vine.

Our children laugh at me because November is my birth month, and I remind them; ‘every day is your birthday’, and I do try and live that. The same applies to Thanksgiving except it is a holiday where we all ‘pause’ after a long year, and ‘reflect’ and hopefully families are together.

With the year approaching the end and our Championship Day of racing, Breeders’ Cup, only two weeks out, we celebrate the many “high-fives” experienced this year.
