Weanling Boarding
A thoroughbred foal weans from its mother at three to six months.
This is a critical time in the life of a young thoroughbred racehorse. In essence, during this time of rapid and exiting development, for the weanling, it’s just learning how to be a horse.
At Mill Ridge, weanlings are turned out in pastures with other weanlings.
Together they become acclimated to the social structure of the herd. Our goal during this time is to give them positive experiences with people and to nurture and care for them as they grow.
